Marvin is a Richmond native whose life reflects service, leadership, and commitment to youth. After graduating high school in 1985, he served eight years in the United States Marine Corps, building the discipline and structure that define him. Following his military service, Marvin worked as a correctional officer at Powhatan Correctional Center, moved into private security, and later launched maintenance and trucking businesses.
His passion for boxing began in 1990 at Richmond’s Million Dollar Boxing Club. He trained, competed professionally, and later coached at Team Bellemeade Boxing with Head Coach Jerry Royster and Ninth Dimension Boxing Gym with Head Coach Omar Aleem.
Marvin now serves as a deacon in his church and mentors young men through ushering, stepping, miming, and boxing. His faith and dedication to guiding youth shape everything he does.
McCoy’s RVA Youth Sports was created from Marvin’s desire to help young people grow in skill and character.
